I
think its a universally accepted fact that any skilled conservative poker player
wishes he had the image of a loose reckless player with no regard for the value
of chips or money. Nothing is worse then sitting at a poker table playing
good button down poker, getting dealt Aces on the button, putting in a
reasonable raise only to the big blind fold jacks face up talking about how he
isn't about to play a a pot against You. Then maybe three hands later he
gets all-in on a fourth round of raises preflop with some maniac at the table
showing low suited connectors. Ah the difference image can make.
Once people start to think that you are willing to gamble with them. When you
start showing a willingness to get your money in without necessarily having the
best of it, people start loosening up. Now the problem is obtaining this
image at a card table can be costly. Playing outside of your comfort zone
can quickly cost you full buy-ins when you find yourself in an unfamiliar
position and make an error. Furthermore bad habits form quickly and you
wouldn't want to undo all the time spent training yourself to play right.
So the question becomes how do you get that image as a reckless player without
playing recklessly?
The best way imo is to start trying to get some prop bets started at your table.
Don't angle shoot them, that would only make situation worse. But offer
simple 50/50 props for something resembling table stakes. When people see
you are willing to effectively flip a coin for the size of an average pot they
will quickly start warming to the idea that maybe... just maybe you are firing a
third bullet on a bluff because the money obviously doesn't matter to you... lol
and that's the good stuff. The true beauty of this method is it almost
costs nothing. You can wager any amount on coin flips and as long as both
sides are paying even money and you have a healthy bankroll you will
break even. And while your breaking even on the side bets, you will be
raking it in at the tables with you new loose image. Read More

Poker propositions are alot of fun, especially in a community environment like many online poker forums offer. They give you a chance to compete for a cash prize with a little something extra attached to it, bragging rights ;) With that being said be careful how you go about setting up and participating in props because it happens far to often that innocent but unsuspecting players get scammed. The simplest way a person can scam you is by not paying when they lose. While at least this doesn't leave you losing anything out of pocket it still costs you in the long run because you had 0% chance of winning (they wouldn't have paid you) and a 50% chance of losing (you being a good person always pay your bets). To avoid this situation it is often best to have someone reputable hold funds until wagers are settled. Be extra careful here to make sure this person is in fact trustworthy, many people have lost their money when the person holding funds runs off with the whole betting pool. Have fun but be careful.
